The graphic novel, Watchmen, happens to be one of my favorite books for its visually stunning graphics, sci-fi storyline, and themes of morality, identity, and a critique of social political issues. Reflecting on this panel of Dr. Manhattan having a personal identity and existential crisis on mars.🙂

For Marina Kappos, the idea of quantum entanglement inspires an interest in frequency, resonance, and connection she finds through painting.

Labels work until they get in the way:

People aren’t homeless. They are experiencing homelessness.

People aren’t anxious or depressed. They are experiencing anxiety or depression.

People aren’t failures. They are experiencing failure.

What people ARE is people.

The avocados from Costco were perfectly ripe today, hence guac.🥑 That’s a win for the day. Little things that keep me connected to joy, gratitude, and positivity; because I remember the numerous times buying avocados that have gone bad. Mindful of the duality of life and balance, to create meaning.💜

I'm not teaching my grad course 'Civil Resistance: How It Works' this semester. But here is an abridged version of the course schedule, readings, and films I used the last time I taught it (in 2022). Just in case it's useful. drive.google.com/file/d/14RRJ...

Major life decisions shouldn’t be based on short-term emotions. They should be guided by long-term values.

Feelings are better mirrors than maps. They reflect our present state, but they don't come with future directions.

Don't let today's mood drive who you become tomorrow.

Enjoying sunshine and warmer temps outside by playing soccer with Jackie and checking out the garden. The milkweed seed pods, shown below, have been slowly releasing seeds through winter- dispersing with the wind. Planted along the pollinator pathway to support the endangered Monarch butterflies. 🦋

Time is relative; it’s still January yet it feels like it has been dragged out for months. To help boost my mood I got my hair done. (Wearing a beanie because I live in Michigan- the hair cut/ color was perfect.) 56 days till spring. 648 days till midterm elections. One day at a time, take care 💜
