Haha I tried to create one for myself using lists, but given the state of things, even a lot of the fun folks I follow are often posting about the horror of our current reality, so I had to change the name of my list lol

But it’s not just how many users Bluesky has, it’s which users: Bluesky is now the home of the posting “middle class,” the really interesting people in specialized fields who talk about their work to others in their field, and to a general audience. This includes writers, journalists, scientists, comedians, actors and other creatives and professionals who give a site its jolt of life.

I suspect it is an extremely low priority, if it’s even on the list at all, but curious what the plans are for making this app compatible with the iPad. Because this is a terrible interface. What say you, @bsky.app ?

From the the Boston Globe today, in yet another article positing that “it was the economy, stupid.” This woman was 12 (!!) last time TFG was elected. I am not sure she is an authority on how much better things were under his last administration www.bostonglobe.com/2024/11/11/m...
Melyssa Nogueira, a 20-year-old pre-law student at Roger Williams University and first-time voter, said it was squarely economic concerns that tipped her vote for Trump. “I’m planning on owning a home, so being able to afford things in my future is just definitely a big concern for me,” said Nogueira, who described herself as a right-leaning independent who remembered the economy being better during Trump’s first term. “Just being able to afford things [was] a lot easier,” she said.

What is clear is that a new framework is needed to describe this fracturing. Misinformation is too technical, too freighted, and, after almost a decade of Trump, too political. Nor does it explain what is really happening, which is nothing less than a cultural assault on any person or institution that operates in reality. If you are a weatherperson, you’re a target. The same goes for journalists, election workers, scientists, doctors, and first responders. These jobs are different, but the thing they share is that they all must attend to and describe the world as it is. This makes them dangerous to people who cannot abide by the agonizing constraints of reality, as well as those who have financial and political interests in keeping up the charade.
