How is even the commercial arbour of Inverness this pretty?

I have two modes when cooking for only me:
1. Cold baked beans straight from the jar
2. Mixed wholegrain rice, roasted PSB, maple butternut squash, and goat's cheese, topped with raisins, roasted pecans, an apple from my tree, and a dressing of honey & son's plum pit vinegar.

A snapshot of my current project, which is turning a very boring HP-coded book nook into an altogether more exciting one. I finally got to use my jar of LEGS and I'm very happy about that.

Thunderstorm, and the medieval tower you can see from my workroom window. (This is Chesterton tower. )

Item #2 in my autumn knitting. These were my Worldcon project and it only took me two weeks on either side.

Update: half done.

Shoutout to McDougalls, who decided to make a significant change to a core product with nothing more than a little banner and a blithe reassurance that it'll work the same as normal plain flour.

(Reader, it does not.)

My newest project. Currently on hold because as it turns out I do not colour theory and subbed the completely wrong shade of white. Oh, well. I do love the needles though - it's their first trial and it's 100% less octopus-wrestling than DPNs.

(Co-starring Max's tiny toes.)

A foxy hat and mitts for autumn, and the first project of this knitting year. Not blocked yet, as my blocking mat is full of curs'd cardi still.

(See alt-text for pattern and yarn details.)

I have completed this curs'd project, which I have been knitting since last October.

(Pattern is Habima by Ariana Soloway. Yarns are Green Mountain Spinnery Lana (solid) and A Little Bit Sheepish BFL/merino (variegated). It's not blocked yet, it might be a little less curs'd later.)

Now is the time for everyone to sit in the same chair.

Creme brulee and qvarg havtorn. This nearly hit the ground slot 30 seconds later, but I caught it, mostly. That left me with a handful of ice cream and a nonplussed look.

(I crammed it back into its come and ate it, then dealt with the cleanup.)

Please enjoy this tiny craft.
(Books for the book nook I'm constructing.)
(Sir Not Appearing In This Photo is Under Loch and Key, which was my test book so I wandered around waving it triumphantly and then put it down and lost it. I presume it'll turn up eventually.)

May 10th, 2024. 11:30 at night, out at Adventurers Fen. Still the best lightshow I've ever seen, and it went on all night. (I know this because we blew two tyres getting out there and didn't get retrieved until 7 or so, so we spent the night in the fens, gawking at the sky.)

The first summer herbs. A giant pile of Swiss mint, a bit of Greek mountain tea and a few chives, a handful of roses (Sophie's perpetual) and some rosemary, oregano, and lemon balm at the back. Most to go to my son, the rest to be tied for drying or turned into rose sugar.
