Update: A federal judge has barred the U.S. government on Sunday from sending three detained Venezuelan men to the Navy base at Guantánamo Bay, Cuba, from an ICE facility in New Mexico.

At the end of an awful week, some bright news from the 8th Circuit: they upheld the lower court’s ban on Iowa’s illegal reentry bill. Huge kudos to my friends at @immcouncil.bsky.social, @acluofiowa.bsky.social & @aclu.org

Appeals Court Upholds Injunction on Iowa’s State-Level Immigration Enforcement Law
A lower court had blocked the Republican-backed law that made it a state crime to enter Iowa after being deported or denied entry to the United States.
