I recorded around 5 or 6 hours worth of podfics this weekend, wanting to wrap up everything I started during VTMB. But instead of editing and posting /any/ of that, I had to immediately start working on @athena-crikey.bsky.social 's new 10Dance AU fic 🙀

My first submission for VoiceTeam MysteryBox 2025 was *gasp* not an MDZS fic! I maybe had the most fun with this one, because it's supposed to be spooky and I got to add in a lot of effects to try to play up the eerie theme.

So, I had this idea for an MDZS fanfic that I will definitely never write, based on the Japanese folklore Tsuru Nyobo (The Crane Wife in English), with WWX as the Crane, since the theme of destructive self-sacrifice for those you love is really on brand for him.

Same bird but watercolors.
I didn’t realize until recently how much CONFIDENCE watercolors require. It’s only been my primary medium for like, my entire life. But to really make it do its thing, you get /maybe/ 3 passes to get the right amount of color down! It’s very unforgiving.

Maybe faces are fine, and it’s just likenesses I can’t do? Ugh, I dunno, I kinda hate it. More practice needed.

I ended up doing the same lotus painting twice over the weekend. The first was WAY too much color. I already knew I overworked my paintings, but this tutorial definitely helped me see how and why I was doing that. I improved on the second attempt.

I ended up doing the same lotus painting twice over the weekend. The first was WAY too much color. I already knew I overworked my paintings, but this tutorial definitely helped me see how and why I was doing that. I improved on the second attempt.

I’ve joined the Patreon for a watercolor artist I really admire, and I’m planning to start on some of her tutorials this weekend. That’s still not getting me to my goal of being able to draw people and specifically scenes from fanfics that I really love.

Plants and animals are easy for whatever reason. And I think, despite watercolors being my medium of choice for 30 years, I kinda suck at it, but I’m liking how my colored pencil drawings are turning out.

Since I’ve been obsessing over danmei fandoms for the past 6 months or so I’ve wanted to start drawing some fan art, but… drawing people is HARD.
