This morning, I told A I saw a bunch of monarch eggs on a baby common milkweed. He didn't believe me..."They're not here yet." "Bet ya I'm right!" I said. And guess who was right?!

This was one of the last butterflies of the season.

One of the easiest ways to tell males and females apart is the pheromone sacs males have on their wings. Usually, they look like two black dots, but you can really see the detail here.

This was one of the most amazing experiences I've had. We went to see the Monarchs overwintering in Mexico last month. Locals care deeply for these butterflies and their environment. They told us that this was nothing like what it was only ten or so years earlier when numbers were so much higher.
