Well, after all that, way out here on the far eastern edge of the storm, we got about an inch of snow. It's freaking cold though! So it's a fluffy snow, easy to shovel, not good for much else.

Just paid my utilities, and it's killing me. Year over year gas usage down 56% (last November was much colder than this November), and bill was *UP* 18% - these fuckers.

My family got food assistance when we were young (govt cheese and all) and I went to Head Start. Was reading at 3 years old because of that. I would never, ever, try to pull up the ladder behind me, yet there are people in my own family who would. I am really down about the entire world, right now.

I think I'm going to chicken out on no heat November. It's not even November yet, and I want to turn on the heat. It's 55 degrees in my house, LOL. But I am made of layers... literally, right now.

I'm going to do the mass blackout thing I keep seeing signs for. I can literally go days without leaving my house, as it is, without a problem (I didn't get why people were so upset over the lockdowns). So not spending any money or going anywhere over Thanksgiving weekend will be a piece of cake!

My brother is automatically eligible for SNAP because he is developmentally disabled. When my parents were alive, they never filed for them for him, and since they've passed on (8 1/2 years now, wow), I didn't either. Why? Because we don't actually need them. I think about all the people

I'm making a huge pot of chicken and dumplings - it's pouring out and it's gonna be in the 30s tomorrow. A very unhealthy dish to kick off the fall soup/stew season. The rest of the year will be healthy dishes, LOL. I've lost 90 pounds in 2 years by eating healthy and less

I have noticed a slight change in comments on the hell site. There are actually people pushing back on all the lies. For months, it was just the rabidly stupid commenting. Has my blocking of thousands of accounts paid off? Or has the tide finally started going out?

Let the subsidies expire. Saving their asses, again, will get nothing but grief long-term. I haven't had health insurance in 25 years. Let them feel the pain their actions have caused. I harvested one of my lemongrass plants today and am enjoying a nice cup of lemongrass tea. I only grew two plants, and from the one I've harvested so far, I have enough lemongrass to make it about halfway through winter, so I guess two plants were just about right.

I watched the new Superman while I was walking on my treadmill. I liked it, though I can see how the more self-aware magats might have been insulted by it. The dicktator guy was clearly a send-up of the current dicktator and Lex was clearly the asshole who ruined twitter. Funny! (typos purposeful)

I'm not Soros, but I just subscribed to The Nation. I've been frustrated by the 3 free articles a month since I usually read them by the first of the month. 25 bucks well spent. Since I'm cancelling Fio after October, I'll be saving 250 bucks a month. Good trade-off, I think. I have to teach

His was a life well-lived and longer than most. Good for him. I don't mind giving away my age. I was born in the 1960s
