FOOD SHORTAGES ARE COMING BECAUSE OF AVIAN FLU. PREPARE NOW. This is a long post, but it's worth reading and sharing. You can find affordable items at your local dollar tree, Dollar general etc. For powdered eggs, butter etc-- try general stores and camp stores. There's also Bezos' warehouse if you still shop there. I also recommend negotiating with store managers about discounted meats and produce. Remember, eggs can be frozen, you can wash and cut a lot of produce and freeze it. I am a firm believer in having an emergency food supply. My rule of thumb is three months. Get fresh meats while they are still available and affordable. I know that sounds overwhelming and largely unaffordable, but I have run my life and this organization on a budget. You can do this. $10, here and there at Dollar Tree gets a lot of this done. What you'll need: 1. Grains will fill you up -Rice of any kind - Dry pasta - Oats or oatmeal -Farina, Cream of Wheat - Flour (can be used to make vegan seitan) - Cereal, chips & crackers 2. Protein - Canned beans/dried beans - Peanut butter - Canned tuna or salmon, sardines etc - Lentils - Canned chicken or turkey (make nuggets or mayo based salads, or even soup) -Canned beef (I know, but it can be worked with) 3. Fruits and Veggies - Canned fruits/jarred - Canned veggies - Dried fruit (you can also dehydrate fresh fruit in the oven) - Freeze-dried veggies -Garlic can be bought in bulk, minced and frozen, same with herbs -Frozen veggies $1 a bag at Walmart. 4. Milk and Dairy - Powdered milk - Shelf-stable milk (dairy and non dairy) - Cheese powder, butter powder, heavy cream powder 5. Fats and Oils - Vegetable oil - Coconut oil -You can freeze fresh butter and margarine 6. Snacks/Misc - Granola bars - Crackers - Jelly, jam - Hot cocoa mix -Dried coffee -Syrup -Candy (yes, but this is important to many) -Pickles, olives, dressings 7. Egg Alternatives (chicken shortages) - Powdered eggs (Fresh eggs can be cracked and frozen) - Flaxseed (1 bag: mix with water to replace eggs). - Chia seeds (1 bag: works like flaxseed). -Applesauce replaces eggs in some baking recipes 8. Extras - Salt - Sugar - Baking soda - Spices -Vinegar -Water Keep food in cool, dark places. Use buckets with lids or clean soda bottles or any empty container that is airtight to store large amounts of grains. Label everything with the date you bought it. Rotate food and try to eat the oldest cans first, replace with new ones. Freeze fresh meat in small bags. Ask the store for markdowns early in the morning or before closing. I do this A LOT with Voix Noire. Bulk meats can be purchased online at places like Wild Forks. If you are receiving grocery orders from me (Voix) yes, please ask for extra. Ask me questions! Baking soda or vinegar •Buy powdered eggs •Buy pasteurized milk and powdered milk •Avoid deli meats because we won't get recalls •Follow WHO for global updates •Follow Canandian and Mexican health officials •Buy masks •Fill your pantry because food shortages are coming •Stock up on water •Buy a water filter or filter straw •Stock up on disinfectant sprays and wipes •Do NOT bring in stray animals •Remove bird feeders from your property •Don't pick up dead birds or animals •Don't allow your pets to play with other animals •Don't wear outdoor shoes in your home •Wash hands •NO RAW FOOD FOR PETS I will NOT be purchasing eggs while we're banned from the data and information agencies are collecting. That's if they'll be allowed to continue surveillance.
