Finished this Eye-Spy quilt for my nephew recently. #quiltsky

I'm pausing this project. I have archival framing tape but no archival cardboard to wrap the embroidery in. Leaving it in the frame, I'll see if the piece needs to be washed. Hope it won't. You can see damage to the fabric from the cellophane tape used in the original framing.

The vintage embroidery was custom framed by a company called Madigan. The cross stitch itself appears to be a copyrighted design by Stitches N Loops. The typeface on the framing paper looks almost Art Deco to me, it could be a logo designed in the 30s or 40s & used up into the 50s.

My amateur attempt at vintage embroidery preservation. Found this cute piece of vintage cross stitch in a frame that makes my hands feel dirty whenever I handle it.

Close-up. Maybe too close! I bought the fabric online and was pleased how well the cream fabric coordinated with the prints. #quiltsky

Time to start lesson planning for fall. Here's my most recent quilt top! Pattern is called "Four Square" by Cath Derksema and Kristen Junior from the book "Easy Quilt Projects." Directions called for 4.5" squares, I used 5", because I love the print so much. #quiltsky

And one more shot of the Kaffe Fassett Collective color wash quilt top. These blocks were just sitting around waiting for me to add to it but I decided not to. I spaced and did not square the 9 patch blocks and it needs a good pressing - too hot to iron tho.

Thanks for the love on my previous post! Here's a better picture. I assembled this in 9 patch squares on a design wall a few years ago. The intent was to add to it but I realized that was not going to happen. So it's 6 rows of 4, all Kaffe Fassett Collective designs in a colorwash effect. #quiltsky

The quilt top barely hit the bed before Bitsy the Gray Cat arrived to "help." Better pictures to follow. quiltsky

Here's a blast from my quilt past. In grad school, I didn't have any time for quilting. One day, a quilting mag caught my eye and I was back in! I made this throw feeling guilty I wasn't dissertating the whole time. Fabric line is Woodland Delight by Paula Prass. #quiltsky

Here's a very busy quilt made at the height of the pandemic. The fabric is all from Kitty Yoshida's "Prospect Park" line. #quiltsky

When I found out about #bigstitchquilting, I started using it to apply binding to my quilts. My hand stitching will never be perfect, so this is my way of confronting my crippling perfectionism. It's surprisingly sturdy stitching.

Had this label custom printed for me, because I have Quilt Gifting Anxiety. I should be able to ship this one this week, if the intended recipient still wants it 😬 #slowquilting

Finished applying the binding on this quilt last night! Binding was entirely applied by machine; not thrilled with the outcome of that, but #finishedisbetterthanperfect #quilt

My mom was a 4th gen Floridian. When we lived in Ohio & would visit FL, she'd bring back a couple lbs of green peanuts to make #boiledpeanuts. They're an acquired taste, many people can't get past the texture. Am deeply skeptical of canned boiled peanuts, but will report my findings.

Fun fact about me, I'm originally from Ohio, and I am a fan of Edward Gorey's art. Oops, two facts. #EdwardGorey #Ohio

Check out the guy's legs in this art, so slender! Also, I would not mind if bustle skirts returned - as long as our ankles can be shown off. #vintageart

Hey, everybody, I'm back and here to share a photo a day (more or less). Instagram does not seem to be heading in the right direction.
