Last July my first novel was published and was in Waterstones window… a year later, no agent, no deal but I have finished the last chapter of a new novel about women who sea swim. We write because we write. Finding the final words that are just right has been very satisfying.

Yesterday I walked at the mouth of the Ouseburn. Crowds were gathering for the Late Shows, a festival of creativity in Newcastle. But the river ran smoothly, a silver path from past to future.

I met someone at a party whose eleven year old son had read my book and loved it. It’s so exciting to hear that he loved the map, enjoyed the story and has decided playing a fiddle is a cool thing to do.
