This is the face of courage and compassion. Thank you Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde for speaking truth to power on behalf of the marginalized.

Now I remember, adulting means spending a bucket of money on something practical instead of fun.

I finished A Sorceress Comes to Call by T Kingfisher during lunch yesterday. I was squeezing in reading it every chance a got. What fantastic characters! Warm, flawed, personable - my favorite may be the butler. I love the way the author plays with tropes, ideas about age, and mature love.

I finished JD Robb’s Passions in Death over the Thanksgiving holiday. The focus of the books flip from large scale conspiracies to more traditional police procedurals. The book fell into the latter, which I prefer. Nonetheless it had some redundancy that read like filler content. Needed editing.

I finished Mother-Daughter Murder Night for a buddy read. From the title I expected something along the lines of Dexter. Instead I would describe the book as more of a Hallmark channel mystery without the romance. An entertaining read but not particularly memorable.

I am reading my first Ngaio Marsh mystery. She was a contemporary of Agatha Christie, but I am finding her writing style more modern.
