Definitely a big part of it. It will work for some, others not so much. Proactive education and cognitive defense training would help prevent people from being led astray in the first place.

A few people might be open to dialogue and reason, but a lot of them aren’t. Their misdirected anger is being spoon-fed to them from multiple angles. Anything opposing those messages is interpreted as disinformation. The best way to understand is to read up on the psychology of cults.
