Historian of science, mostly medieval to early modern astronomy & mathematical arts. Things German, Polish, Egyptian, or hey that looks interesting. Ex public policy + occasional tuba. Copernicus book in progress. Don't get long covid, it sucks.
Thanks so much! 🙏 No worries, I don't even currently have a local board game group, so I can wait a few months until it's available in the US. A group of Cairo friends used to meet pretty regularly, but then everyone moved & I haven't gone looking here yet; maybe with a Prague clock incentive...? 👀

I suppose being patient for a year is cheaper than a plane ticket to Germany... No problem, also Linda Hall Library recently had a nice anniversary post on the clock, which includes a link to the amazing official website from Prague if you haven't seen it before: www.lindahall.org/about/news/s...

Wow, thank you for your service in pointing this out! 🙏 The original clock remains on my bucket list of sites & instruments to visit, but maybe if I can get a board game version shipped to the US for prior study... 🤔 bsky.app/profile/karl...

Yeah, it's a decent-sized town and (like the rest of Texas) has a history of colorful characters -- the guy who ran the restaurant in my home town (calling it "the" restaurant gives you an idea of the town's size) was grandson of this fellow: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William...

No, I had just started first year of grad school in Chicago (showing my age) when it happened. And I wouldn't have been that physically close -- geographically my home was in between Waco & Austin, geographically closer to the latter but culturally much closer to the former (at least back then).

Y'all have more edifying roots than I do (not from Waco itself but down the highway a bit). 🙄 😬

You're the meaning in my life
You're the inspiration
You bring feeling to my life
You're the inspiration 🎶

(for your Chicagoan consideration 😅)
