The Golden Fleece was not a singular object of divine origin. It was how ancient Georgians mined for gold. Sheep skins would be placed in rivers where the hair would gather gold particulates. Once removed, the skin would be a golden fleece.

Aia is modern day Kutaisi.

In its most basic form, Jason sets out from Greece, eventually arriving in the land of Kolkhis where he meets and woos Princess Medea in the city of Aia. With her help, he steals the Golden Fleece and sails back home to claim his throne. What if I said there's truth in that?
