Fabulous advice in these trying times: Read books, meet people IRL, do good deeds, admire the admirable, work with people who do the work, and be true to yourself.

As Joyce always reminds us, We’re in this together!

I’m really feeling the intensity of what’s happening in our world.

I’m a huge fan of historical fiction and have read a ton of stories based in the time of World War II. I feel like history is repeating itself.

I am surrounded by people who don’t see it that way. I feel crazy

Yesterday’s display of 🤷🏻‍♀️made me wonder how Kamala, Joe, Hilary, Obama, Pence etc managed not to scream. Talk about a masterclass in emotional regulation. Or numbness I guess. As a human it’s hard to comprehend!

I remember reading this when the book came out and thinking "Nah, way too pessimistic".

Now the incoming US Health Secretary doesn't think HIV causes AIDS.

Sometimes the people around you won’t understand your journey—and that’s okay. They don’t need to. Your path is yours alone, and it doesn’t require anyone else’s validation. Trust yourself and keep moving forward, even when others can’t see the bigger picture.

Billionaires are an economic drain on society
If you’re tired of living paycheque to paycheque and never being able to get ahead, make sure you blame the right people.

Recently a family member was discussing politics and was upset that his tax dollars were going to pay for the bottom feeders.

I am a bottom feeder. So thoroughly disabled that I would die without a caregiver because I can’t even get a drink of water. I did not calmly explain that to him. 😉

CALLING: If I wanted to monetize listening I’d live well. I’m good at it and do it often. I also enjoy it. I love to hear about the deep and real. 😊

POLITICS: As a Canadian my biggest concern is quality of life on a global scale. Whichever party’s policies move us in that direction that is who I vote for. Currently I feel the NDP capture that goal the best. We have so much work to do!

USA? I’m so worried 😬

BODY: I use a Powerchair to get around and can no longer do much without help. I couldn’t even get myself water so my life is in the hands of others. Multiple Sclerosis is an adventure.

Work: I’ve been teaching piano since I was 12. I didn’t teach it well at that age but I began to learn the craft. I find such joy in my work. Some frustration as well but 40 years in it’s mostly JOY.

Labels: I understand the need for identifying labels that help us share who we are in the world. But I also find them to be so divisive at times. And also not the full story of who we are as a human. We are all so unique.

“The progress of the world will call for the best that all of us have to give.”

A quote from Mary McLeod Bethune. A contemporary and friend of Eleanor Roosevelt who worked within government to continually fight for the rights of those who were oppressed. Important for our current situation
