Dismissive/tone deaf, yes. Fred Meyer has a convenient pharmacy for necessary, life-saving pharmaceuticals. Not to mention WINCO simply does not carry the variety offered at even Gateway FM, let alone other stores. I live in Parkrose so I am not house-poor and can still afford nice food options 🤷‍♀️

Glisan Fred Meyer is pretty much Montavilla, but mostly helpful for the north end of the neighborhood. I guess for lower area, there's not a lot (Target 🤷‍♀️)

A Trader Joes would be awesome. They have maintained at the 39th Ave transit center for years. Not everyone finds the options at WINCO meet their needs, and the lines there lately are terrifying. Come September, we will grocery shop in other neighborhoods until another grocer is added to E-PDX.

And maybe an open space that is a once a week farmers/makers market! We started a once-monthly street market in Parkrose, but needed better support to keep it sustained.

We need another grocery option aside from WINCO. With the loss of Fred Meyer, a pharmacy would be helpful. Housing with a secured, safe play area for kids. A childcare center. Community/non-profit space. An all-weather food cart pod. All of these together in that area = fantastic community options.

I grew up in a not-super-safe area, but we had a huge common "backyard" for the development -- a running track made for a fantastic place for bike riding for hours, and nighttime neighborhood kickball. Every family had a sliding glass door to the backyard, for eyes on the kids.

I visited Rockwood recently. Very nice area for families. I worry that an open park space would be filled up with tents. I wonder if it could be a closed-entry area for residents, which would make it safer for families, too.

Services people need are access to a pharmacy that accepts a variety of insurance, and other items. Now folks will need to go to Target. WinCo's 30 minute lines are not feasible for people who can't take that much time out of their day, nor stand in line that long.
