For borders and parent lookup I think that should work nicely, like you said it’s mainly translating coordinates and having that data already around by the time you need it. Worst case comes when you’re at a corner the parent tile

I also like the full sweep based approach. But I guess one advantage of using the depth buffer is you don’t need to worry about tile edges. Sweeping gets tricky to adapt when the hull can be spanning multiple adjacent tiles

Very nice one! One thing I wondered for shadows is whether it can be extended with soft shadows. Since the sweep can store distance to the peak it’s occluded from

Gumroad can also be quite nice for 3d assets/software tooling. Very quick page setup with drag-and-drop exe uploads.
