Kidney patient on dialysis, waiting for transplant
Truly shocking. But I think so much of this goes on in the NHS. But the only people who know are the ones who experience it. The NHS needs saving, but also saving from itself.

Progress is never trivial. If it was we wouldn’t continue.

4 months post kidney transplant and I’ve just worked up to 10,000 steps a day from having done nothing for years. Indoors though, as I’m obviously immunosuppressed. But steps is steps.

We all have differing opinions and that’s how it should be. A lot of my work was in primary school finance. Once a school became cashless I had an extra day a week for other tasks.

Have you also tried the rinse and spit trick? (You can pretend you’re wine tasting lol)

Very tough

I never hand over my meds, other than for transplant. I sign a disclaimer. Annoyingly the nurse still trots around asking if I’ve taken this or that. I always say it’s not the right time. I can fully understand your annoyance

Ouch, I’m cramping just thinking about 4 litres

This is so hard to read, but much harder for you to deal with

I seem to remember 2 people in US having a pig kidney. Only a year or so ago.

My daughter couldn’t get a job after leaving Uni with a first class degree. She answered an advert on fb asking for someone to manage their social media but on a SE. She took it on and built up her client list and 3 years later she’s highly successful.

Are we not still in covid times?

I paid £5 per delivery from Tesco when they first started in my area in the early 1990s. Now I order from Morrisons and the cheapest slot is £2.00. Admittedly that’s for a late delivery but it’s next to nothing.

This is how things are now. People don’t think of others at all now. Not all people, but enough to make this the norm

Yes, what a surprise

I think you can only solve one problem at once. But each solution seems like another problem arises. I admire your strength but know also that you have no choice
September 2, 2025 at 11:32 AM
Have you felt a difference with having all that fluid removed?
September 2, 2025 at 11:20 AM
That’s a huge amount! I was crashing at 2 litres but I’m not made is stern stuff obviously. I hope your body hasn’t reacted too badly
August 30, 2025 at 1:32 PM
So sorry Martin. I hope dialysis is readily available to you?
August 28, 2025 at 4:34 PM
So disappointing
August 12, 2025 at 1:08 PM
How very exciting for you all, congratulations!
August 11, 2025 at 6:24 PM
Hope you have set aside some recovery time. Best of luck
