I love all the birds of paradise in San Diego.I also caught a glimpse (and sound) of a Kingfisher (real bird) near the bay!!

A little foggy and rainy on the way in, but I am excited for #sfn25 and presenting the work of a MS Student, Tasnima Supty, who graduated last summer and is unable to travel due to her health.

The university laid off 70 employees today. I may not know all of the people laid off, but I do know some, and it is awful.

I got to visit my Mom this weekend. It was very emotional, as her brain is deteriorating from Alzheimers Disease, and she can barely move or speak. But she liked the bouquet of flowers and called them "bonitos" (pretty), and smiled and giggled when I kissed her.

I gave my lecture on the Neurobiology of the eye today. I brought some gummy eye ball candies to give out for fun. Hats off to all the Neurobiology peeps working on the visual system, it's mind bending and awesome.

Dementia is so cruel. I got to video chat with my Mom today. She has advanced AD. It's sad to see her this way, but she smiled when she saw me.
