Entrance mosaic at Villa Johanna in Eira, a district of Helsinki packed with glorious ‘Jugend’ buildings. The bare red brick with plastered areas and stone decorations are unusual.

#TilesOnTuesday Gorgeous tiled stove in Amuri Museum of Workers’ Housing in Tampere, Finland 🇫🇮. Fascinating collection of wooden houses, shops, bakery and of course a sauna.

Finnish public #libraries are justly famous- inventive architecture, extensive collections and great services. Metso in Tampere takes the form of a capercaillie seen from above. It has a mean cafe too ☕️ 🍰 🇫🇮💙

Gorgeous prints of places I love from the very talented @gailmyerscough.bsky.social enlivening the smallest room in the house (hence the distortions, sorry Gail).

Rainy afternoons are good for #Archive research.
Didn't expect to find that #OTD 126 years ago a local #StroudGreen #N4 man, George Melton, enlisted in the Army under the fake identity of George Smith. Anyone know if he was likely to have been punished when he confessed in 1913?

Didn’t expect to come across Lee Miller among the sculptures and the pots at the Petrie Museum today, but of course she lived in Cairo in the 1930s. Such a lot has changed at Giza.
