Bookstore owner. All around nerd: reader, gamer, cross stitcher, D&D hag.
Today we boxed up @findthepathbooks.bsky.social at 710 bay st. We were fucked by high rents by a conservative landlord. I hope to open a new location, but I’m scared we won’t be able to serve our community.

Day 12 of trying to get 1,000 monthly contributors to my publishing imprint. If you want to help us publish more Black and brown books, consider signing up for $5 or $12. Every single dollar helps us to do this work more successfully. So if you CAN, please help.

Day 10 of me asking you to invest in my publishing imprint for $5 or $12. My goal is to not only publishing Black and brown stories that challenge the status quo, but to create resources that make publishing more accessible for everyone. If you can, please help.❤️

Parable of the Sower/Talents by Butler and anything by Jemisin.

I also really loved Lone Women by Victor LaValle

Romance is ANY historical romance by Beverly Jenkins.

Started watching Maid last night and who shows up in episode 2 but the incomparable @aimeecarrero.bsky.social. I wish she was in all the episodes. I love her. Hashtag Nancy and Mother.

Just started The Lighthouse at the End of the World by @jrdawson.bsky.social. I already know I’m going to love it, but I’m taking it slow because grief is a main theme and real life already has me in those feels. 💙📚 #booksky

This is what we try to do with our little indie bookstore. We thrive in community.
Nobody asked but here’s what I think we should all do:

Find some way, however small, to make the world a better place.

You don’t have to do everything. (You can’t do everything.) So find the thing or things you CAN do, and do them.

Octavia Butler tried to tell us.
With alt-text. The Parable of the Talents is a novel by Octavia Butler. It was published in 1998, a sequel to The Parable of the Sower (1993.) Both were award winning books.

A Farewell to the App We Lost

Today, we mourn the loss of more than just an app. It wasn’t just a piece of software, a fleeting moment of digital escapism. It was a home—a place where communities thrived, where knowledge was shared, and where the highs and lows of life were collectively felt.

Question for small businesses and community spaces. With people leaving meta (rightfully so) and TikTok being banned, how are we getting information out about our stores and spaces?

My husband and I have rediscovered Diablo 4 (Baldur’s Gate distracted us) and there is something super satisfying about just the hack and slash of it. I just finished this season as a rogue and next season going to try a spiritborn after watching how absolutely overpowered it is.
