I am lifelong scholar who never outgrew childhood, loves historical recreation (SCA), acroyoga, regular yoga, dancing, and I always have a sewing or nålbindning project in progress. I love doing geochemistry/archaeology research.
Long ago my notes said things like "created a spreadsheet to...", but then I couldn't find the spreadsheet again. Now such notes record the full location and file path, what it is for, why, and what those cryptic column names mean. Meta Data is your friend!

I have been at that age for most of my life. However, remove the glasses, and I can't hear, either...

After the paper was submitted several months elapsed before the publisher found reviewers with the time and necessary expertise to do the review. But now, at long last, it is published, and I am delighted, and relieved to have this finally out in the world.

When I resumed research again, I discovered that funding was closer to done than I had remembered, so I opted to ignore the paper and just finish the thesis. After the thesis was submitted I resumed work on the paper part time while working full time.

I started the first draft in 2020, but due to financial complications took a research pause to work a new job. Resumed work, and got the first draft finished in 2021 before taking another research pause to buy a house and fix it up enough to make it liveable.

The first draft was written in 2021, before a pause from research to buy a house and fix it up. Then funding was gone, so I wrote my masters thesis before returning to the article. Then months more elapsed before reviewers were found. So it feels really good to finally have it done and published.

I don't have a subscription. Duolingo has Finnish, and has had for quite a while.

** The article was submitted 12 November, so "forever" in this case is not a record-breaking amount of time, but it still felt rather long.

* The journal took forever** to get it reviewed. This is a hazard of writing in a very niche corner of the field.

...and why it would take two hours, when an artichoke flower can be steamed in 45 minutes.

I had never heard the term cardoon before, so I have just read about them in wikipedia, where they described ways to prepare and eat all of the various parts of the plant. So now I am curious as to which parts of the artichoke you were cooking in the manner of cardoons?

And thanks to that young person who became the current you for continuing to get back up and resume daily life every day, despite the fact that a terrible thing was happening that was so bad, it couldn't be discussed with anyone, nor properly understood.

That sounds very poorly thought out!

You should post a close-up of that rivit holding the handle on. That part is not at all simple, and it doesn't really show in the photo.
