Fan of wide open spaces, Calvin and Hobbes and cheese scones. Not necessarily in that order! Retired HT and STEM Dev Officer. Currently working P/T in adult education sector.
Some nice twisty bits of trunk and branches for uplift. #CatioContent #StormAmy I love a bit of creative recycling.

Leaves were starting to drop for autumn but the storm caught the weight of the crown and tore the tree down.

6 tip runs later….
Didn’t make it to the chopping it up stage but pleased with clean up stage 1. #StormAmy

So, post #StormAmy the contorted willow is being gradually removed. I’m on lopper and secateurs duty then His Nibs gets to play with his chainsaw.

Autumn is definitely here in Scotland and therefore comfort food will be my Go To until April.

Coorie in folks.

Rereading Wolf Hall ( have never seen the tv adaptation) alongside A Memoir of My Former Self. ( The latter is very sharp, witty and honest)
Hilary Mantel is a great loss but her books remain a sparkling gift to her readership.

Non gardening son has the best soil of the family in his garden and he loves the fact that his apple tree is so bountiful with zero effort. More apples than we can accommodate. Enough for the neighbours and stored for winter too!

Cheeky wee trip to a fine bookshop in sunny St Andrews today, would be rude not to! #BookSky 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿📖
Snapped up this beauty.

Wedding anniversary. Husband knows me well. Might keep him another 39 years.

Wayhey! Finally after five years of waiting and a liberal dose of liquid seaweed my honeysuckle has bloomed in style. The scent is amazing and I love seeing the flowers scrambling around the patio doors. #Bloomscrolling #NoviceGardener

Garden visitors- one yelling for mama and the other one silently battling a bee for a juicy buddleia buffet.

I’m wildly pleased with my first homegrown strawberry. Not first of the season. First ever.

( I know, I know)

I await my gong from Monty Don nonetheless.

Painted a fence panel, made some bunting and this is my new favourite “reading with a cuppa” spot. Birdsong, scent of roses and nemesia = bliss.

5 years ago I started painting a rainbow fence in support of key workers and today I’m painting it one colour. Feels weird.

All the grandsons are at ours and this afternoon they’ve :
1. Had a complex Dino battle
2. Played zombie football
3. Hunted for snails
4. Made sand potions

Meanwhile I’ve sat gently rocking on the swing seat. Braw.

Now the wonky pine is no more. His chunky, less wonky brother remains, safer from the chainsaw. For now.
Littlest grandson was sad for the tree and so was I. At least some pansies and violas can enjoy more space having outgrown their pots.

Once upon a time, I bought two wonky little ornamental pine trees in the clearance section of a garden centre. They both thrived. Sadly one was planted too close to the house…1/2
