For what it’s worth, my (superficial) sense is that Canadian agencies have been moving more cautiously, and developing more tools in house, than their American counterparts, at least.

Though the devil is in the details as to how resilient these systems would be to a broader market shock.

This latter group, by the way, includes my own government, as Canada was quick to declare a genocide was taking place against the Rohingya in 2018, but has remained silent in the context of Gaza, despite a significantly stronger pattern of evidence: globalnews.ca/news/4470455...

The people who will readily describe the situations in Sudan, Myanmar etc. as genocides, but then twist themselves into knots to explain why it's different when Israel does it, are the ones applying a double standard. And showing their callous disregard for human life if the victims are Palestinian.

But what's particularly maddening about these takes, especially from commenters who have a big audience, is that it's a complete inversion of reality.

The people claiming Gaza is a genocide are the ones being consistent. That's why this side is where the international human rights consensus is.

The Yale Humanitarian Research Lab has even described the situation in Sudan as a genocide *in the Yale Daily News* before, as a quick Google search demonstrates:

True at Dalhousie. We literally just had a month-long lockout to try and get faculty salaries that keep pace with inflation.
