Salaam dear friends! I take great joy in sharing the news that I passed my PhD viva/defence yesterday.

I pay tribute to all my teachers, friends, and comrades, many of whom played a critical role in enabling me to write this thesis.

On the issue of Kashmir in a global context, Indian media as early as February had been looking to foreshadow a narrative of transnational terrorism targeting India, with Hamas playing a key role.

A further irony to this is that the EU is practically activating the European Civil Protection Mechanism only for the European trees on the land of Palestine that have caused this whole crisis in the first place, but they never do for Palestinian trees routinely burned by Israeli settlers.

How have Jashn e Rekhta made Faiz, of all poets, be Captain America? Urdu poetry isn't just about cute Mughlai aesthetics. Each poets political convictions are key to who they were and their writing!

My suggestion for Captain America is Hafeez Jalandhari, btw.

THREAD.

As a Palestinian, I will share with you the special techniques used to make people appear healthy and energetic, despite starving.

I risk offending my community in doing so, since these are secret techniques that no non-Palestinians aside from the Jerusalem Post are aware of. (1/x)

All this has gone under the radar, however, because mainstream coverage of Palestine in European football has been one sided and duplicitous, reproducing the same trend of always protecting the genocidal state of Israel and its affiliates.

As Liew writes:

How ridiculous to equate Palestine and Daesh in Prevent training on extremism in higher education. You can tell that the person who wrote this has read very little about either situation and has made assumptions based on a surface-level analysis only.

It's so striking to me how what Maqbool Bhat said of Pakistan, Kashmir's supposed ally, in 1971 applies so perfectly to Egypt today and its role in oppressing Palestinians in Gaza.

Vivien Sansour describing so aptly the importance of Palestinians' relationships with the land.

I invite everyone to read this anecdote from early 19th century Australia. Macquarie was of course the then governor of New South Wales, but his actions echo firmly with those of a certain current Prime Minister of a certain settler state in the Eastern Mediterranean.

Does anyone know where this figure comes from?

I once wrote a short story set in the far future that featured a fictional AI called Gospel that was built to support Israeli nation building.

Today I discover that the *actual* IDF relies on an AI system called The Gospel to identify potential targets in Gaza - a "mass assassination factory".

Some pro-Israel people are indeed advocating racial colonial capitalism openly and without equivocation.

Reposting from my Instagram as a reminder of Gaza's high population density in perspective and how difficult it is to find safe shelter from Israeli assaults of the current magnitude.

Also, I am sitting here wondering if the giant cats in the song are a result of some consultant carrying out a study that concluded that videos with cats do better on the algo/get more views?

Pakistani meme experts, please help me out. Am I missing a reference here?

Not me attempting to make this thesis chapter on Indian political economy more "fun" by calling the Congress party of the late 80s and early 90s as "increasingly discredited".

He continues, "the writers in this movement write about the 10 lakh people who became homeless due to land erosion, who are constantly harassed over citizenship, who are hated and humiliated by religious fundamentalists and ultra-nationalists.”

From the side of the Miyahs, Ahmed's poem instigated a whole movement of poets writing in their own dialects as a form of both expression and resistance. To quote him:

“This is a movement about asserting our rights through poetry."
