We found out Thursday that Helene has colon cancer that’s spread to her lungs. She had her biopsy Friday and sees the oncologist again on the 11th.
Been a whirlwind of a week.

She’s amazing. She’s been a bit of a pain the last few days because she knows something is going on with us but she’s too little to understand. But she is always a ray of joy to us.

Thanks man. Only silver lining is that the oncologist just started at the hospital and he chose it over hospitals in big cities so they’ll want to keep him happy. That’s why everything is moving so quickly. Well, that and we both think it’s pretty advanced and agressive; she had a clear scan in Feb

One blessing is that the oncologist doesn’t see any need for her to go to Ottawa or Toronto for treatment. So I won’t have to use a ton of sick time to start. Getting a FMLA started to cover myself, with this administration at work, and my position in the union, I’m not taking chances.

She’s had horrible health scares before, about 7 years before we met she died a few times on the table. And she was alone. I always said I wish I would have been there. I wish I didn’t have to back my words up. But, at least I’m not breaking into sobs every 10 minutes anymore.
