My 16 month old is obsessed with Harry Belafonte, so the Essential Harry Belafonte album (and esp. Turn the World Around, Day-O, Island in the Sun, and Jamaica Farewell) is on constantly around here. Being #ActuallyAutistic prepared me well for this moment lol

Small Gods was also my first - someone had brought it in as part of a donation book fair at my high school, and I thought the cover looked interesting. May have been the single most important moment in my life as a reader. Still have it ❤️

I preordered this when I first saw it listed among the newest crop of Little Golden Books for 2025. I look forward to reading it with my son (two of his four godparents are LGBTQIA). Thank you for writing this.

These aren’t powerful people, or even famous ones, they’re less than fifty of the over half a million NCAA athletes and they’re getting targeted because a bunch of weirdos got mad about their genitalia. It’s a sick obsession, and a tragedy for the people who are targeted by it.

The reading news/caring for baby thing is still the same when they’re fifteen months old, btw…at least it is for me. Surreal.

My son is only 15 months old, but I’ve already had discussions w/ my mom about how he’s never to have YouTube on unsupervised (she likes to watch minimalist lifestyle vids herself). When screen time becomes a more constant presence in his life, he won’t have direct access unless an adult is w/ him.
