I'm facing this right now, I'm finally in the position where I can actually get hormones and transition but the entire country feels against me and it just all feels awful

Not exactly a horror book, but if you want general written horror I would recommend the Magnus Archives which is an excellent horror podcast/audio drama.

That really is the pattern, it's so ridiculous.

It is amazingly revealing about what he thinks about the Me Too movement that there is an entire plot point about how the great artist is brought down by someone saying he had sex with a teenager. But then it's revealed it was all part of an evil plot to besmirch the artists name.
