Today is the 50th anniversary of the oral argument in Buckley v. Valeo. The lead plaintiff, James Buckley, had an interesting life — serving first as a senator and then a D.C. Circuit judge (and living to the ripe old age of 100). Obit here:

At last night's game, I found myself sitting next to Gary Woodland, a KU grad who won the U.S. Open at Pebble Beach a few years ago. A really lovely guy.
