Obviously the amounts of data needed to train that kind AI is egregious, but hospitals/universities participated in studies for this. This was all done within an "ethical/legal" bound framework

I'm not defending AI here, generative AI IS a huge problem for so many reasons and needs to be regulated

AI was used to identify things like cancer on MRI scans, map genomes, fold proteins, and many other more "Noble" AI use cases. One could argue those examples are not only ethical, but even maybe benefit humanity?

But, what happens when your AI is "technically" better/faster than your radiologist?

Nowadays AI means a ton of stuff, Generative AI is just 1 of those areas. But you can use AI for things that have nothing to do with a generated output. For example pattern matching/recognition, machine learning, and recall mechanisms. It's used in medicine, biology, etc. For very useful cases

Now, even if you did manage to make an "Ethically sourced" AI, would its use be ethical? This is where the needle gets moved again.

Using it on your company's phone tree, podcast, etc. - Maybe

Legally sell your voice, which can absolutely take jobs away from people in voice acting - Less sure

Because they did that, all that stolen work/human existence is now permanently embedded in their LLMs. It is therefore impossible to use their "data" ethically.

But you can use their transformers (GPT-4, etc), all they do is interpret the data you give them, from a technical standpoint at least

It will then generate whatever you ask based on your clips. Newer models require less data to generate something coherent, but still a TON in many cases. Doing it like that, you have not taken anything anyone didn't consent to, which is the huge problem with the larger companies: they just stole it

Yes there are absolutely ways to make it ethical, it just requires more work

You can, right now, download and setup local LLM/GPT models and instances at home. You can then record your own voice clips, and feed to your LLM. You then tell your GPT to only take training data from your local instance

You may have been logged in with a temporary profile, check your C:\Users folder to see if your own user folder exists, and a temp one. If you can browse you own user folder and it looks like your stuff is in it, you can probably fix it by changing a few registry keys to revert back

Yeah I'm down! I'll reach out on discord

I'm really sorry to hear that, big hugs and take all the time you need to process

Exactly, they want both sides without having to do any effort for it. My parents took away my gameboy, my PSP, my iPod and didn't hesitate to pull the wifi cord before they went out.

It's not difficult, but the parents don't want to deal with a Crying child

They should just build a wall about it, since they wanted to do that anyways :P
