It sucks that there’s no way I can apply for the position right now, after working so hard for my PhD. But it’s nice to be reminded how much my parents understand and support me.

All this to say, we already don’t have enough support for disabled people in the US. And things are going to keep getting worse.

Mutual aid, community care, social networks, etc are going to be increasingly necessary. Don’t forget us.

And wear your freaking masks.

Oh, forgot to mention: I tend to share this info regularly specifically because the fact that I have a PhD and was using it already tends to hold a bit more weight in the “I’m not unemployed by choice, but necessity.”

It shouldn’t, lack of employment ≠ lack of value, but to some people it does.
