This game from 1983 does better at teaching positioning and thinking about potential threats before they show up. If you remain stagnant, you get snowballed on.🤣

since I got into arcade stuff in 2022 I've been surprised at all the mentions of Elevator Action. It was a game I played for quite a bit on my NES clone but never bothered to see how far I could go. It was definitely a fun time especially after I learned that I can kill enemies by jumping into them.

I never played FF7 as a kid, so I learned about the FF7 characters through a gaming magazine article that featured Ehrgeiz. 😆

It's easy to find some quick deaths as "not fun," but these games are short and so putting such stuff in it for the player to figure out is part of the gameplay.

But it's fine to not find that fun. I personally like the Darius series because getting hit doesn't immediately cost me a life lol

if you're talking about old titles, yeah it seems they're just unable to compete with JP-made shmups, especially because "euroshmup" mechanics not really being engaging or fun.

I'm tired of all the shitty Dino Crisis fan game "remakes" that are literally just "guy learns to code and makes a half-assed demo that doesn't even play properly.'"

thanks for the trivia. I never even heard about Superguns until last year's EVO 2024 due to them being used for Third Strike.

I have only tested Ninja Warriors Again and haven't gone in-depth with it, are there are other single-plane bmups that play like it? (Besides the Once Again version)

In exchange for your ship not having a shot limit, devs then designed chaining-based scoring systems so that players who are more mindful about shooting get rewarded with higher scores.

But it is nice to see games like Dariusburst still using shot limits with some ships for play style variety.

I couldn't help but think about how this applies in shmups. Turns out when the danmaku design was gaining popularity, STG fans were also apprehensive about the shift in focus to dodging as opposed to shooting. No more shot limits.

I saw a clip from an indie game called Forastero. Seems to be highly inspired by God Hand at first glance.

I'm a huge fan of the Tenchu series that I got Tenchu: Kurenai when it released. It would be eventually localized as Tenchu: Fatal Shadows, but I never got to play that because I really had a ton of progress in Kurenai and I didn't wanna start over.

Yeah, I definitely hadone of those. I checked some local vintage toy sellers on Facebook and saw some bootleg Macross models too, which I also remember having back then.

how small is it? I remember having a similar mech toy from the '90s that is very small, requires assembly. Available for very cheap at local stores.

If I'm gonna whiff a dashing attack, at least I'd want to look like I fully committed to it before I eat the punish.

oh yeah I only found out about that two months ago. I actually made a post about that game. So far it's Dinorex that I have actually experience in, but I am hoping that there will be a Warpath: Jurassic Park player base using Arkadyzja.

My interest in dinosaurs makes me try out games from different genres/subgenres that I usually don't play. Some games I still don't end up enjoying such as crafting games like ARK or park builders. But skill-based games with dinosaurs, I'm more likely to enjoy them, even janky stuff like Dinorex.
