NYT rightly complains about lack of candor at the CDC. Echoes my own (and other's) complaints about the FDA's communication on vaping. Exaggerating risk to manipulate behavior is a short-term strategy that will cost you credibility.
Covid Shots for Children
Much of the world has decided that most young children don’t need to receive Covid booster shots. The U.S. is an outlier.

1. Humans are the source of all value. 2. Nature exists only for our use. 3. Our primary purpose is to produce and consume. Success is based on material wealth. 4. Production and consumption must rise endlessly because we have a right to an ever increasing material level of living.

Sam is always worth hearing, but the moderate utilitarianism he often applies to global issues goes out the window here. He sees no reason for Israeli restraint in Gaza because "it is Hamas fault". As if Hamas' evil deeds and intentions undermines Israel's moral responsibility for it's own actions.

Ongoing conference on research communication at Humlab, Umeå University, touches on climate activism, global injustice, AGI, conspiracy theories, and more. Stirs the old researcher conscience question - is doing research too long-term a contribution on this ailing planet?
