Yeah it's a bit confusing when you're used to modern TCP/IP routers where you're always routing between two different interfaces instead of different protocols on the same network!

I'm trying to understand why you're using 2 NICs for this, are you trying to bridge two separate networks onto GlobalTalk?
The normal setup only uses one NIC, since AppleTalk and TCP/IP are separate protocols they can co-exist on the same LAN
