A23a has finally escaped the vortex! 🏊‍♀️🌀

The biggest iceberg in the world is on the move again after a casual half-year sabbatical spent spinning in circles.

Our @magic.bas.ac.uk colleagues have illustrated A23's super circuitous 2024 journey via satellite imagery ⬇️

Hello everyone, reintroducing myself here: I study rifts / fractures in Antarctic ice shelves using mostly SAR and machine learning. I also do work with sea ice and polar climatology 🛰️❄️

Currently finishing my MSc at UVic in Victoria, Canada.

Hope to see you all at AGU next week! 😎

I submitted an abstract to @theAGU yesterday to present the first set of results from my Masters! I have been looking at the detectability of Antarctic rifts using C- and L-band SAR, and assessing the potential of object-based vs. pixel-based automated detection methods. 🛰️🇦🇶
