I would say you could get away with a simple midi pad that you can customize. Play around with it and see if you can incorporate drum machines or other stuff into your mix. I know how you feel on the hardware. I've been wanting an rmx1000 to play with to level up my build ups.

I've been starting to feel the same way, I've been trying to play around with other house sub-genres and try to listen to other sets to get ideas of new transitions. It's nice that in VR spaces, I can test my skills with other genres I'm not familiar with.

I never even thought it that way hahaha
