AWS & CF are great option for infrastructure - but not for a Social Platform like #TalkShop.

I have done the math - Upto 10K users, using AWS is a great way to serve our target market!

Beyond that, it is cheaper to setup our own Dedicated server clusters! But we will get there!

When we started, we had collected $2475 of the $7000 we needed to get off the ground.

buymeacoffee (and Twitter/Bsky) crowdfunding worked but not completely!

This move to more scalable servers is a necessary step to keep the #TalkShop dream alive!

So freshies - STOP wasting your time with all these AI chatbots and learn stuff the old fashioned way - by actually writing code, making mistakes & correcting them yourself. THAT is how you learn!

Once you have a grip on fundamentals, then sure, use AI for grunt work!

Bottomline - AI can certainly speed up the process of writing code, but you still have to know your shit!

If your grip on Fundamentals is weak, you will just end up wasting even more time!

Point is, if her React/HTML fundamentals had been strong, she would have caught the fact that AI chatbot was talking out its arse after seeing the first response itself!

But she didn't! She listened to AI and dutifully followed its every instruction!

There was indeed a bug that had crept in one of the components. State/Effect can be tricky to figure out!

And I am not questioning her judgement in going to AI Chatbot to find a solution.

AI chatbots can indeed be useful in some ways!

Not only did she break the RoomPricing React component, she ended up breaking the layout of a dozen parent components/elements in the App tree! 🤦‍♀️

No wonder the Team Lead wanted me to have a word Her!

My Freshee OTOH implicitly trusted the AI chatbot!

"AI cannot be wrong! Its AI!"

So she dutifully implemented every suggestion! And when it didnt solve the problem went back to that moron AI chatbot for a solution!

Lather rinse repeat!

I looked over the entire transcript from first to last question vs answer.

Her question was correctly framed but the first answer itself was COMPLETELY WRONG!

Heres the thing mehn - if my developer's fundas were clear, she would have known that the AI chatbot was fapping!

I asked her last night before going to bed to send me the entire transcript of her interaction with this AI chatbot and looked over it this morning when I woke up!

What an eye opener!!

That AI chatbot was fapping away, and my Freshee was blindly following along all day! 🤦‍♀️

One new freshee on my Ux Team spent all day yesterday struggling to fix a very minor issue with a scrollbar! What did she do?

Used an AI chatbot to "speed things up"! Did it? No! Infact it made things much, much worse breaking stuff all over!

See, the problem is that AI chatbots, like that annoying know-it-all programmer we all know so well, are fapping most of the time, and doing it confidently!

Unfortunately, many people fall for that confidence and accept that advice without questioning!

If you have Community support, Family, friends who can fight a sustained battle for you on Social Media and in courts while you are in jail, then Yes! You can definitely stay back in India and continue the fight!
