Apparently today will be the last day the pumpkin carving world will be hosted in #Resonite. There over 1400 user-created pumpkins, 100 just in the last day.

The struggle to make personal work is somewhat strange. We are creative professionals who create an absurd amount of artwork day after day at our jobs and yet we don’t always make our own artwork. You’ll hear us complain about frustrating limitations, crappy clients, clueless bosses, and demanding deadlines, but when we get home from a long day of work we rarely take advantage of our creative freedom. What’s worse is we all carry around a mental array of “amazing ideas” and “personal projects” but they rarely get past a few baby steps. We are tired, we have fami- lies, we get stressed, and we get lazy. Call us pathetic, but making art after work is damn hard.

I like the framing that LLMs work for “things worth doing badly”, because (1) there legitimately are many things that it’s much better to do a bad job at than not do at all, and (2) it’s really enlightening to consider that anywhere you see AI deployed, it means somebody decided they could get away doing it badly

They came in an entire box, with swatches stored in plastic pouches separate from the backing.

Also in the box: a list of color/lengths included, but no indication of what color goes where.

The color names have some quite obscure characters…
