Over on X you can see how the Trump administration is using every channel of communication to frame the shutdown as the fault of Democrats.

Using such official communication channels for partisan politics obviously erodes trust. As with many things we are witnessing, this will have lasting effects

NYTimes really driving me up the wall these days (and giving @nytpitchbot.bsky.social a run for its money) with framings and headlines like this one.
So an article about the government stifling free speech is a story of “success” and “efficacy” is it?

4 of the deaths have been health care workers.

The fact that you can have all of these organizations calling for Kennedy's resignation (or the NYTimes op-ed by 9 former CDC directors) and it having so little discernible impact is a sign of how far the US has moved from valuing scientific advice and expertise and how big a challenge it faces...

NSF will no longer fund research on misinformation and is stopping grants, arguing that it could infringe on free speech “in a manner that advances a preferred narrative about significant matters of public debate”. Chilling to see even if it’s not a surprise.
