Have YOU tried the free trial for the critically acclaimed MMORPG Final Fantasy XIV?
Lot of words to say that albums that can create a linked visual identity with their music, outside of imagining the music itself being performed, are peak.

Much in the same way, Nurture "feels" like its album cover. Whenever I listen to Look at the Sky, Get Your Wish, Musician, that airiness, lightness, delicateness is matched perfectly by the flower field imagery. And through having that picture, it deepens the themes of that album.

Whenever I listen to that album, I can perfectly envision a JRPG that fits that tone and theme. Just through the music, it creates a visual representation of itself in my mind.

Purity Ring was described as a JRPG album, specifically calling out Final Fantasy X and NieR Automata as touchstones, and through that lens, a lot of the album makes sense thematically. Specifically if you look at FFX, I see a lot of parallels in the "storytelling" of the album and the plot of FFX.

Tears. Literal tears.

61. Tame Impala - Deadbeat

Huh... there was an album there? I sure don't remember it

60. All Time Low - Everyone's Talking!

I'm impressed with how much I liked this album. It has a fun energy, the lyrics are oddly introspective at times, and the vocals have aged like wine.

59. The Midnight - Syndicate

I'm glad they backpedaled on the Heroes sound, the classic synthwave vibe suits them way better than the arena stuff

58. Trails in the Sky SC

This was such a great payoff for the first Sky game. Starting the game at level 40 did wonders for the challenge curve. No wonder it's the fan favorite.

THAT SAID I can't wait to explore a star system with the power of MIDI technology and interpretive knob turning

57. Hollow Knight: Silksong

It's great. Hornet's moveset is great, and the difficulty felt right (I didn't seem to have as hard of a time as others 🤔). I tired of the constant enemy arenas, but that's the only major negative I have against it. I like Hollow Knight more, but this is great too

56. Shinobi: Art of Vengeance

The better of the two 2D ninja games recently. The combat feels incredibly deep for this type of game, there's lots of exploration, and it's challenging without verging into frustrating

55. Geese - Getting Killed

My jaw is on the floor and brain is exploded into mush

54. Purity Ring - purity ring

Oh buddy, I'll take a 2000's PS2 JPRG inspired album any day of the week

53. Heavenbreaker

I came for big mech jousting and sci-fi court politics and left sorely disappointed in both

52. Unicorn Overlord

I unfortunately found this game to be lacking from both the tactics side and the story side, relegating it to the realm of Podcast Game for all eternity

51. Play Nice

While I found the story of Blizzard interesting, I wish Schreier had some commentary or input on the whole saga. As it stands, it reads like a (very well-resesrched) research paper, dry despite the wealth of good information

50. Mikgazer Vol. 1

Today I learned Vocaloid Shoegaze is a genre and it's AWESOME

49. My Bloody Valentine - Loveless

I'm sure there's a song underneath all that fuzz and fizz and grit and haze, I'll let you know when I find it

48. Cocomofo - Cardinal Rose

Psychedelic jazz fusion pop? SIGN ME UP oh it's SO good
