A criticism of the CDR community has been that it creates license to keep emitting CO2. Glad to hear @janicelachance.bsky.social of AGU emphasize that emissions reductions are necessary while also presenting an important framework for ethical climate interventions. Bravo, AGU!

A series of interviews by the Meridian Institute found key themes necessary for progress in the mCDR field. Interestingly, there's low confidence that any of these things can be achieved in the timescale needed, particularly around community engagement.

@phoebebarnard.bsky.social emphasizes that we need to work from bottom-up and top-down frameworks, creating a "restoration economy. "Time is not on our side", so increase ambition but ensure co-design.

It still baffles me that so many of us who rely on our brains for our work don't take as many precautions to continue to protect it from repeat infections.
