Waymos sometimes also wait in red zones for passengers. I hate how hard people fought for daylighting, and now those spots are basically just passenger loading areas.

Jackie Fielder, the sole democratic socialist on the board, voted against this upzoning plan.

Is there any place in the US that allows you to go more than 80mph? Maybe cars should just max out at that speed.

...and then they handwave away the infrastructure needed to support all these people commuting into SF.

That is also under the unrealistic assumption that you would always use energy from fossil fuels, while California's energy mix already has a big renewable share.

A natural gas furnace has 90, maybe 95, % efficiency, whereas an electric heat pump has at least 300%. With gas power plants having around 40% efficiency, you get a total of 120%.
You would need to lose a lot of energy during transmission for that to be less efficient.

Using heat pumps consume more than burning fossil fuels, though.
It is probably better to generate electricity using natural gas at a power plant and then power a heat pump with it, than burning natural gas directly at home.

Automated heavy rail would be a better pick for Geary. It can run smaller and more frequent trains, is cheaper to build (due to smaller stations), and has lower operating cost.

Mission Street needs this so badly. I wish the police would enforce transit only lanes and ticket people for illegal turns.

It is especially sad considering how much money was spent on the new transbay terminal.

How can you tell this is a multi-use path?

Will you still support Chuck Schumer after this? I hope not.

Oakland/Berkeley should have gotten a light rail network decades ago.

He seems “nationally insecure.”

I don’t get why they couldn’t come up with a different location for it. There’s a lot of open space around the White House.

It seems like they deliberately wanted to destroy the East Wing.

How is this getting funding during the shutdown?

There's one at 20th too, and cars constantly ignore it, even in front of cops.
