I love that. I’ve been essentially keeping a diary on my phone, but I do miss the camaraderie from the old school blogging days

Maybe we should start a club!

Isn’t that the best time to do so?

Sincerely,
Someone who has been up since 2 😂🤷🏻‍♀️

Love you back. 😘

Thank you so much for sharing. We did the second parent adoption after our second was born, but definitely need to get on the Will and other docs. Thanks for the reminder!

(Trusted adult paper I’m supposed to display.)

This is not okay. We need to work harder to help those we’re trusting to help our kids. Something has got to change.

/end rant

Friends, I’m not the only teacher in America experiencing this. Burn out is real. We’re encouraged to reach out for help, but if we do, it will greatly impact those around us.

I am getting by. I have a supportive therapist and a supportive psychiatrist. I’m using the Shmoody app a lot.

Another kicker? Our first staff meeting after my return is a training on preventing suicide amongst our 5th & 6th grade students.

I get a paper at the end saying I’m a trusted adult. 🫡

Meanwhile, I’m blasting Jelly Roll every morning on my way to work & praying to survive another day of craziness.

I’m close to a breakdown, but I have to return to work so we can have an income and because our family’s health insurance is under me.

If I go out on leave for my own mental health, I will not be paid AND we will have to pay 💰 to maintain the healthcare our family depends on.

My disability insurance does not cover mental health, so the only way to get paid while on leave is being the caretaker for someone else. It takes 2 months, but I finally get a portion of my salary THE DAY I RETURN TO WORK.

Life gets increasingly harder during the next few years. Grandma gets Alzheimer’s, dies in April 2024. Wife has medical issues, has brain surgery. I’m the sole provider.

In Oct, I go on FMLA leave as a caretaker for medical issues my wife is having. My psychiatrist also writes me a note.
