Her Royal Highness by Rachel Hawkins

Do you want a cute teen royal romance? OF COURSE YOU DO!!! Fluffy fun YA! What else do you need?

We Set the Dark on Fire by Tehlor Kay Mejia

I can’t even tell you how much I fucking loved this YA fantasy. Social commentary & a hate-to-love arc that lives rent free in my mind. You don’t get it and until you’ve read it you WONT get it. So read it. Now. I’m so serious go get it right this second.

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

We all know it and we all know it for a reason. You’re going to tell me that lesbian space necromancers aren’t worth your time and energy? Please we both know you’re lying there. I don’t even like scifi and I loved it.

Girls of Paper and Fire by Natasha Ngan is another YA fantasy series and when I tell you it was all I could think about when I first read it……. Obsessed is an understatement.

So far I’ve only recommended adult titles so here’s a great YA to check out!

So Let Them Burn by Kamilah Cole is one of my absolute favorite reads this year. I can’t even write this post to describe it because I will just start gushing about how much I enjoyed the whole thing. Read it. Now.

Another author I recommend in sapphic romance is Alexandria Bellefleur. It’s hard to choose but I do think my favorite here remains Written in the Stars. A sapphic holiday romance with astrology and chaos vibes. 10/10

Next I ALSO mentioned Even Though I Knew The End by C. L. Polk. This one is a historical speculative novella set in Chicago that had me losing my mind (complimentary) over the prose. Just stunning.

First up: I mentioned Ashley Herring Blake and my favorites of hers is actually Iris Kelly Doesn’t Date. I read it earlier this year and instantly loved it.

So far it’s an interesting take on the Sleeping Beauty tale. I somehow have never read a T. Kingfisher book before so I’m excited this is my first!
