This is kind of like objectum sexuality, where people feel they're in a relationship with objects, except in this case there is no physical object. Conceptum sexuality? It's the concept of a partner? I dunno. But yes to everything you said.

The death of drive-in theaters removed a good option for families. In the late-70s/early 80s, my parents could take us to a double feature and let us sleep in the back of the station wagon after the cartoon ended and the adult movie began. And there were swing sets to play on before dark.
