A Glossy Ibis on the Somerset Levels today, looking absolutely stunning in its breeding colours in the sunshine.

Just because it’s a rather splendid tree…

I took a few images of yesterday’s partial solar eclipse from my garden. The central one was at the maximum coverage, about 30% at my location.
It was so nice to have good weather when there was something interesting happening up above, for a change 😁

I’m on a mission to process all the images I’ve captured so far this year. Really pushed my little Redcat to its absolute limits with this one 😂
Very heavily cropped M97 and M108, taken back in February with the dSLR, but at least I got it!

IC 1805 - Treated myself to my first dedicated astro camera recently and this is my first image with it. Bit of a learning curve but I’m rather impressed with the quality of this image compared to the same target with my dSLR. Going to have fun with this 😁

Nice to see some Mandarins living wild on a local pond, such beautiful little ducks.

31.2% Waxing Crescent Moon this evening. Can’t remember the last time we had so many clear nights in a row 😊

I was visiting my daughter last night and only had my mobile with me so the image doesn’t do justice to the scene, but the thin crescent moon and Jupiter looked absolutely stunning with the pinks and reds of the post sunset glow on the horizon

So nice to notice the evenings starting to draw out now. Just a delicate hint of colour in the sunset bringing hope for longer, sunnier days to come 🤞🏻

Learning how to use the speedlight I was given as a Christmas gift and how to do water splash photography. This could get very time consuming 😁

After picking up the dreaded chest infection over the New Year, today was the first time I’ve felt up to going out, even though it’s really miserable weather.
Word of the day: Damp 🌨️💨

Well, 2024 wasn’t quite as bad for astrophotography as I thought it had been.
Looking back through my archive for the year, I achieved more than I initially thought. So, here is a selection of some of them. Hoping 2025 will bring more clear skies and better opportunities

It’s snowing!! Not much, and it won’t last as it’s going to get warmer tomorrow, but we rarely get snow so I just needed to record the moment ❄️😂

Feels like ages since I’ve done any bird photography so it was great having a day out before Christmas. Always love seeing a Curlew, there were about a dozen of them at this site, never seen so many at the same time.

A very Happy Christmas to all you lovelies! However you’re spending today, and whatever your beliefs, I wish you peace and joy 🎄🕊️

What will you do with the extra 4 seconds of daylight that we’re getting in the northern hemisphere today?
Use them wisely, my friend 😂
