I think this would then necessitate doubling down on the hybridised trees and replacing the ones that are more generic (what is a slayer?) or feel like their entire concept is "diet <existing spec>" (packleader, diabolist, etc - these could also move into being the spec-specific themes)

I think a good (albeit not easy) solution would be for each spec to have a third tree exclusive to itself that is a bit more generic and meant to just feel like an upgraded version of that spec, like a more straightforward class promotion in other RPGs.

Elisande and Velen had their worldviews irrevocably changed by what they thought was the sheer power of the mortal spirit, but they actually just needed better prophecies like the cool new people.

I feel like I get punished for caring at this point.

Yeah this is like the whooole point of Legion in particular.

"Sometimes the hand of fate must be forced."
"My destiny is my own."
"Only we can save ourselves."
"Our survival was never in fate's hands."
Elisande stuff, Harbingers Khadgar stuff... probably way more I forgot.

Blizz have turned beta into a product. They sell it in the Epic Edition like early access and blast it on their socials.

I'm sure Blizz is quite content with this arrangement - they're making bank. A third party scolding those players for not properly testing something they're paying for feels odd.

Okay my bad 4/3, one more post just to say: I really hope the community is extremely loud about this and isn't charmed by the easy wins Blizzard have listed to obfuscate what this really is.

I don't know if this can be stopped, but might as well treat it like it can.

This is predatory in a way that's new for WoW.

Blizzard presents a nice list of irrelevant bullshit, but if they actually cared about making store housing purchases fair, buying an item would just give you infinite copies, or a trivial way to get more with gold, and there'd be no need for all this.

The game here is pretty obvious:
- Buy currency in bulk, "so it lasts".
- Start decorating pink bonsai house.
- Decorating takes more decor than you think and self-control is hard when spending pre-purchased Monopoly money directly in the housing UI.
- Run out of currency early.
- Repeat.

Lothraxion being undercover the whole time for me falls into the territory of a twist so obvious it's actually not a twist at all, and the more interesting story would just be for him to be 100% genuine and bought into everything.

The idea that the hubris of the dreadlords lead them to follow their usual playbook against the cosmic force that literally centres on belief in its supremacy and brainwashes people into that belief, only for them to get 100% owned, in my mind legitimises the Light as a threat going forward.

I always liked the idea that he tried to infiltrate and ended up being converted anyway. The notion that one dreadlord could infiltrate the Light, without anyone noticing, kind of undermines the Light and the whole concept of lightforging and the Light indoctrinating its followers.

imagining blizzard redrawing silvermoon's territorial borders daily as increasingly wealthy alliance and horde social media users outbid each other to buy out the next election

As a slight aside, the one thing that has somewhat sold me on the Voidstorm and Harandar not being completely random bolt-ons is that they do also kinda carry some TBC vibes (thinking Zangarmarsh specifically with the mushrooms, although I'm sure the zones aren't all that similar in reality).

I've been thinking playable Broken would be a good parallel to the Amani for Midnight, especially since Azuremyst and Bloodmyst would be logical patch zones. TBC vibes + Velen and the Lightforged especially have stake in this expansion.
