Yes. The red balloons thing was definitely played up in all the movies too. In the book, I believe there are masses of multicolored balloons—though there’s sometimes a single one. 🙂

The benefit of this is that it can be read out of order. Is that a happy middle before impending calamity? Or was it a felicitous ending after turmoil? Some corpses may mummify while others rot. This would only add to the mystery leaving behind the fragmented trace.
