Shit like this always makes me laugh because no matter how much I try to imagine AI as the future of gaming, I just don't buy that a predictive technology could ever match Street Fighter on an Atari, let alone a masterpiece like RDR2. A key part of the fun is that you *can't* predict the next frame

Oasis Minecraft doesn't fulfill its promise of being a "game,” it’s just janky video which filled me with despair as the screen melted into heavily pixilated desert grass before morphing into an underground cavern. Could qualify as an interesting experience if you are moderately stoned though.

I just don’t see how the AI trajectory ends with the level of empathy, political leadership, and financial competence required to actually implement something like Universal Basic Income. The optimism baffles me, nothing in the right-wing tech sphere is angled towards social cohesion or care.

Čapek coined the term “robotics” from the Czech word “robota,” meaning forced labor. Which really points to the end goal being an infinitely obedient and exploitable labor force which is simultaneously humanized and dehumanized, the former just enough to make the latter sadistically pleasurable

I’m adamant that total job automation is a fantasy, but in this hypothetical AI/robotics replacement narrative it seems far more likely we’d all be shoveled into woodchippers en masse, there would be no market incentive for corporate governance to put us out to pasture with all expenses paid.
