we've reached a critical point for jo - he's stepping into the darkness, as people have been anticipating. and we see that his decision to do so is bc he's motivated by his love for ian & the desire to protect him... like it's just toooo good u guys idk i'd do the same!

while conflicted, has already started to bend his own morals for ian.

then adding the fact that jo is still willing to give ian the benefit of the doubt about what is going on since it’s likely that he wants to hear ian out and is putting his trust into ian based on what he knows of the man despite the beginning of his world being upended reveals that jo,+

and for jo, who is still in the dark with what is going on, to start covering up ian’s actions as a form of protection because he didn’t want ian to get caught, even if it means becoming his accomplice… +

ian beating that guy up to the point of dying because he had targeted jo, which shows that his love and care for the younger man have grown. especially since it’s unlikely that he would have lost control of himself if his feelings weren’t that deep.+
